Naxi Museum in is exact replica of traditional dwellings of Naxi Autonomous County, Yunnan Province. The building work was carried on in Beijing by Naxi craftsmen according to the national customs and traditional construction technology. The museum building complex consists of three wells, courtyard, Square Street Plaza, Kegong building, Dongba palace, stone arch bridge and pier. The bridge and stream chained the buildings. The dwellings, streets, shops and streams make up a complete natural landscape and humanistic view of Naxi community in Lijiang township.
The Naxi museum has building area of 1,710.53 square meters that covers an ground area of 2,750 square meters. The museum was built in 1999 and open to the public in November 2001.
The indoor and outdoor displays of Naxi museum are life settings of traditional production and lifestyle of Naxi. The exhibits are collected from Lijiang, Naxi Autonomous County of Yunnan Province. They cover a time span from the Qing Dynasty (1616-1911) to modern times, about three hundred years of history.
